Blue Ridge Fly Fishing or Fly Fishing in the Smokies is one of the best spots in the county to fly fish and catch trout. Fly Fishing is the ideal sport for those who love to be outdoors in the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky mountains. Not to mention that the various creeks and streams are known worldwide as some of the best fishing in the world.
The Blue Ridge Mountains have ponds, creeks, streams rivers and lakes that are full of fish, and main Trout – including Brown Trout, Brook Trout, and the every famous Rainbow Trout.
Creeks, streams and rivers in Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia contain a mixture of both wild and stocked trout. Stocked trout are easy to catch early in the season, but get progressively more difficult as the season progresses. Stocked Trout are also larger than wild trout. Wild Trout are the true catch, as they are smaller and far more difficult to catch.
While fishing, you’ll encounter both expert fly fishers, and also tons of beginners. You’ll also often be the subject of tourists watching you and taking photos. We’ve met some really nice folks this way from all around the world.
We’ll warn you though – Once you’ve been out flying fishing the Blue Ridge a few times, you’ll be addicted. You can’t get wait to get back on those waters again, and you’ll think and dream about catching those big Trout!
